"It is not of importance that one be a believer or not : what is important is to be Tolerant "
Dalai Lama
" T.O.L.E.R.A.N.C.E " is composed of nine bronze sculptures, each represents a letter of the word "tolerance" and suggests a religion.
The initial edition in 8 series has been reduced to 6, among which 3 are permanently installed on public sites, in Paris and Montpellier (France) and in Abu Dhabi (U.A.E). The 4th series is owned by a private English collector.
We are continuing towards our goal and vision of installing T.O.L.E.R.A.N.C.E, pinpoints of light against the intolerance and terrorism that we are facing around the world.
At each installation, either perennial or provisory, T.O.L.E.R.A.N.C.E serves as a landmark, a focal point welcoming other artists, students and diverse communities to join in spreading the essential message of Compassion and Brotherhood.
" A word becomes meaningful because of all of its letters, each one indispensable and of equal importance to convey the meaning.
In the same way, the different cultures and spiritual beliefs of our societies can live together in brotherhood and complete each other, in the knowledge of reciprocal respect and a bit of kindness.
Mysterious and grave, 9 emissaries invite you to meet them, to respect their differences and the beliefs they suggest. Joined together on the same site, they speak to us of encounter and harmony, of peaceful completeness.
As humans, we all have in common, inherent in our nature and based on the awareness of being vulnerable, the quest for stability and peace.
Religious concerns seem to get worst day after day. Yet the mosaic of beliefs and cultures make the world...
By this sculpture, I wanted to bring to light the likeness of the common quest of immanence, whatever it is and whatever the "god" to which it is addressed. It is this similarity, this convergence which should be demonstrated, instead of the differences caused by unproven speculations or groundless fundamentalist assertions regarding the divine - inherently ambiguous and therefore questionable.
Each of the letters, by its particular style, evokes a belief of the world. But the interpretations are left deliberately open to the imagination of everyone..."
